Early Childhood & Lower School Counselor (Preschool-4th Grade)

Duke School offers an exceptional learning experience. With an emphasis on inquiry, students explore science and social studies topics through a project-based approach. Instruction in reading, writing, and math is delivered through a workshop model. This engaging and rigorous environment challenges students to forge their own paths to learning. Duke School comprises grades preschool - eight. Each grade in the elementary division has two classrooms. Two highly qualified teachers work collaboratively with 22-24 students in each class.  

We are seeking a school counselor who possesses a unique blend of warmth, patience, and creativity to begin in August 2024. The ideal candidate will have a Masters in Counseling, Masters in Social Work with focus on child mental health or Masters in Psychology specializing in children. The ideal candidate is someone who is knowledgeable about child development and can provide support and guidance to help children navigate social and emotional challenges. They will collaborate closely with teachers and parents to create a supportive network around the child, and they will advocate for the needs of each student to ensure they have the resources they need to thrive.
