Assistant Teacher

Canterbury anticipates openings for hardworking, collaborative, and flexible part-time assistant teachers in the 2024-25 school year. Assistant teachers work in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First grade classrooms. Assistant teachers help with classroom instruction, organization, student management, and preparation of materials under the direct supervision of the lead teacher.

 Assistant teachers work from 7:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. daily, or 27.5 hours a week.

The successful candidate is an educator who:

• relates to and enjoys working with all children.
• collaborates easily and effectively with other teachers.
• participates in classroom instruction and activities as agreed upon and/or assigned by the lead teacher.
• helps maintain an engaging, safe, and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
• fosters a climate of respect for each child as an individual.
• maintains strong relationships and communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. 
• supervises lunch, recess, carpool, and other duties as required 
• participates in all required school events.
• completes clerical duties as needed by the lead teachers
• is committed to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive community.
